Francilia Schofield

Kindermusic, Piano, Recorder, Flute, & Organ

Born in Dominica, Francilia began her piano, recorder, and flute studies the Royal Schools of Music practical examinations and completed all levels by the age of 17.  At 19, Francilia received her diploma in piano performance from the Trinity College of Music, London. 

 

While in Dominica, Francilia performed with the Harmony Ensemble and played flute, and keyboard as a member of the Music Lovers’ Government Band.  She has been teaching piano and recorder since the age of 16. 

 

Francilia achieved her Bachelor’s Degree in Music at the University of Ottawa, Canada.  Besides her studies, she taught at the Balthazar School of Music and accompanied the En-Harmony Women’s Choir.  Francilia enjoyed conducting Womansing choir.   

 She worked as the organist at the Sierra Vista Lutheran Church for 9 years, and currently volunteers as accompanist with the Sierra Vista Community Chorus. 

 

Francilia started the non-profit Francie’s Youth Piano Competition in 2007 in hopes of inspiring young musicians to work hard and persevere with their studies.   

 

She was awarded the Mayors arts award for performer of the year in 2012 for her contribution with music to the community of Sierra Vista and in 2013 performed with the Sierra Vista Symphony. 

 

Francilia was the vice-president of the Cochise Music Teachers Association 2017-2018, and the president2018-2020.  She has been a member of the Music Teachers National Association and the Cochise music Teachers Association since 2005.
